Job Title Adjunct Instructor - EMS (Ashe and Alleghany) for Workforce Development Job Description

This is a part-time EMS Instructor Workforce Development and Community Education position. The part-time EMS instructor teaches in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings. Under the direction of the EMS Curriculum Lead Instructor, the EMS Instructor is responsible for preparing, delivering didactic, and laboratory education that parallels the NHTSA, NC Office of EMS, and National Standards curriculum.

Full Time or Part Time Part Time Essential Duties Summary

  • Exhibit an uncompromising commitment to WCC as a learning-centered college through the College's mission, vision, values, core skills and learning outcomes, and delivery of instruction and services.
  • Provide instruction for EMS courses as assigned by the Lead Instructor.
  • Serve as a mentor/role model to students, faculty, and the community by presenting a positive professional image.
  • Maintain a variety of regular and confidential documents including general correspondence, reports, class schedules, forms, contracts, and memorandums from rough draft or from verbal instructions; prepare copies of documents; distribute information.
  • Update and maintain files as requested by the directors; assist with forms and collection of data as requested.
  • Demonstrate high-level professionalism.
  • Continue professional development for the improvement of self and the program to meet the needs of a learning-centered college.
  • Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position.
  • Provide accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • Hold and maintain a current North Carolina Paramedic credential.
  • Hold and maintain a current NC Level I Paramedic Instructor credential.
  • A minimum of an associate's degree.
  • Five (5) years of clinical experience with an EMS provider at the Paramedic level and should have 5 years of teaching experience. The teaching experience should incorporate educational methodology, curriculum development, test construction, and measurement/evaluation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Instructor Certifications for ACLS, PALS or PEPP, and ITLS or PHTLS..
  • Excellent communication skills, computer applications proficiency, and the ability to work effectively with others.
  • Bachelors degree or willing to obtain
  • National Registry Paramedic Certification

Physical Demands

Working Conditions: Work is primarily performed under general supervision in an office or classroom setting with appropriate climate controls. Travel, early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required.

Essential functions of this position require lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate.

Medium work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally; involves sitting only occasionally, walking and standing are required regularly, incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn/twist, balance, reach, or handle.

Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills are important.

Salary Grade Salary Associates's Degree: $28.27 p/hr Bachelor's Degree: $28.49 p/hr
