Lakeland University,a liberal arts institution, seeks qualified adjunct instructors to teach undergraduate Education courses in Reading beginning in the fall, 2026 term.

EDU 382 Reading Teaching Techniques - 3 semester credits

Course Description:

The interactive nature of reading and reading instruction, developmental stages of reading, reading strategies, and effective instructional techniques, including phonics are covered. Students learn to design, implement, and evaluate effective reading programs to meet a wide range of student needs for early childhood, elementary, and middle school students. Participants are expected to apply theory and research to classroom practice through a clinical experience in reading with a one-on-one tutoring experience of at least five (5) hours.

Pre-requisite: EDU 100 - Introduction to Education and admission to the Education Program.

EDU 282L Reading Teaching Techniques Lab - 1 semester credit

Course Description:

Students seeking certification in Elementary and Middle School (K-9) are required to pass the Foundations of Reading Test in order to be endorsed for licensure. This course will review topics and concepts specifically related to the test and will also discuss test taking strategies.

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 8:00-8:55 a.m.

Qualifications:

Candidates should possess, at minimum, a master's degree in education, a license in reading education and minimum of 3 year's teaching experience.

  • Respond in a timely manner to calls or emails from students, colleagues, or supervisors.
  • Use university technology as directed.
