SFCC provides a high-quality, geographically, financially and emotionally accessible education to more than 4,000 students who range from traditional college-age students to adult learners. The college offers associate of arts, associate of fine arts, associate of science and associate of applied science degrees, professional and skills certificates, and noncredit courses and programs, and workforce development training in a 14-county area in central Missouri with locations in Sedalia, Boonville, Clinton, Lake of the Ozarks, , Whiteman Air Force Base, Jefferson City and online.

Position Purpose: We are looking for qualified candidates to teach various classes within the Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Engineering areas during future semesters either online, at main campus in Sedalia or at one of our extended campuses. Applicants should have a master's degree in the subject matter they wish to teach or a related field with 18 graduate hours in field. Not all positions are needed currently, but we are trying to build a pool of qualified faculty as needs arise in future semesters. These are part time positions based solely on need each semester with no benefits.

Programs under this category include biology, chemistry, physics, math, and engineering.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Instruct assigned courses using predetermined textbooks and curriculum
  • Utilize technology (including Canvas)
  • Gradebook/feedback up-to-date within 1 week in Canvas
  • Timely response to student emails within 24 hours
  • Meet attendance and final grade entry deadlines
  • ILO/data reporting to Lead Instructor/Division as requested
  • Maintain communication with Lead Instructor and Associate Dean
  • Meet college expectations on Quality Instruction especially in areas of feedback and class engagement
  • Other duties as deemed necessary for the function of the college.

The preceding duties are examples of the essential types of work performed by positions within this job classification but are not all inclusive. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind work assignments as needed.

Required Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Master's degree in area seeking to teach required or related master's degree with minimum of 18 graduate hours in specialty area (other qualifications will be reviewed and considered as appropriate)
  • Prior teaching experience at the college level and experience with computer mediated instruction preferred.
  • Applicants will need to verify experience with Canvas and/or complete required training provided by the college

Skills:

  • Possess a working knowledge of computers as a medium to manage and improve instruction.
  • Demonstrate evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate student centeredness. Be able to interact with a broad range of people with diverse backgrounds both on and off campus, in a positive manner.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college.
  • A willingness to take on additional responsibility and work collaboratively
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to interact verbally in person, over the telephone, and via written and electronic media.
  • Ability to move about campus and other locations.
  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
