College: SOWELA Department: Workforce Development Type of Appointment: Unclassified - Adjunct Duties and Responsibilities: Develop and deliver comprehensive and engaging lesson plans that align with the curriculum and learning objectivesProvide theoretical and practical instruction in areas such as medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, clinical procedures, patient care, and medical office administrationDemonstrate and model proper techniques, safety practices, and ethical standards in medical assistingCreate a positive, inclusive learning environment that fosters student engagement, participation, and growthSupervise and provide hands-on guidance to students during laboratory work, simulations, and clinical practiceAssess student progress through evaluations, examinations, and practical assessmentsProvide constructive feedback and guidance to support students'' professional development and clinical skillsIdentify and address individual learning needs and support students who may require itStay up-to-date with current medical practices, industry trends, and advancements in medical assistingCollaborate with colleagues and contribute to curriculum development, program enhancements, and continuous improvement initiativesMaintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom and laboratory environmentServe as a mentor and resource for students, offering guidance and support in their medical assistant journey Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent requiredCertification in Medical Assisting (CMA, RMA, CCMA)Certification in Phlebotomy TechnicianCertification in EKG Technician Required Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a practicing medical assistant Required Licenses or Certifications: Certification in Medical Assisting (CMA, RMA, CCMA)Certification in CPT Preferred Education: An associate degree or higher in medical assisting, nursing, or a related field Preferred Experience: At least four 4) years of practical work experience in a medical environment, with hands on knowledge of related proceduresAt least two years of experience in teaching in related material Benefits: As a member of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, SOWELA has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
