This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time/adjunct assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. Job Description Summary
ADJUNCT - HOSPITALITY:
The purpose of this position is to teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need, and maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community. Courses may include online courses and/or dual-credit/early college classes.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Culinary Arts, Baking/Pastry, Hospitality Management or equivalent from an accredited school.
Three (3) years experience in the field.
Current ServSafe Manager or Texas Certified Food Manager certification for lab instructors required to instruct Culinary and/or Baking/Pastry courses.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and methods which enhance student success.
Knowledge of a learning college and/or knowledge of learning communities.
Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts or related field.
Current American Culinary Federation Certification (For CHEF and PSTR courses).
Experience teaching at the secondary or college level.
Experience teaching college level online courses and/or documented successful training in a college online learning management system (e.g. Blackboard, Canvas).
