Job Description

Central Virginia Community College is located in Lynchburg, Virginia, in view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. CVCC is a comprehensive two-year institution of higher education with an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students in occupational-technical programs and university-parallel college transfer programs.

Central Virginia Community College is seeking qualified individuals to serve as adjunct faculty in the Professional and Career Studies Division, teaching Professional or Technical courses in Applied Science or Non-Associate Degree Occupational Fields. The Professional and Career Studies Division includes:

• Mechatronics • Information Systems Technology • Culinary Arts • EMS • Respiratory Therapy • Medical Laboratory Technology • Welding • Electrical • HVAC • Business • Management • Administration of Justice • Administrative Management • Cyber Security • Nuclear Technician • Radiologic Technology • Machine Tool • Early Childhood Development • Health Sciences • Industrial Maintenance • Medical Coding

Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom laboratory and online environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.

Employees must be able to work strategically with diverse colleagues, students, and community members, with a commitment to diversity as a learning outcome, being culturally respectful, professionally competent, and civically responsible.

Minimum Qualifications

• Masters Degree with at least eighteen graduate semester hours in the specific discipline • Associates Degree or equivalent for Career and Technical Education Courses • Official transcripts will be required prior to final offer • Ability to demonstrate the use of relevant technology and learning management systems to effectively facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication • Commitment to student engagement in the online teaching environment, including maintaining consistent communication and virtual support mechanisms to ensure student success • Technology capability, access to WIFI, computers to teach remotely

All teaching positions of Central Virginia Community College require the ability to teach in a variety of modalities, including virtually. Demonstrate competency and commitment to continuous professional development.
