Job Description

Laurel Ridge Community College is accepting applications for adjunct part-time faculty day evening and weekend positions for a Physics adjunct. Adjunct Faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course semester basis as needed. Responsibilities include teaching college level courses which may include distance learning on and off campus courses during the day evening and weekends. This position will be located on the Middletown Campus Fauquier Campus and Luray-Page County Center as needed.

AdjunctContinuing Education Faculty listings are on a continuous open until filled basis. Applicants will be contacted on an as needed basis. Submission of on-line application must also include unofficial transcripts of all college work completed. Cover letters and resumes are optional but recommended. Please note applicants must reside in Virginia West Virginia Maryland or DC.

Compensation and Benefits

The rate per credit hour will commensurate with education and relevant or teaching experience. The position is part time and as such is not eligible for health or leave benefits. However the position may offer educational benefits through our professional development and educational assistance policies.

Telework

According to DHRM policy 1.61 Teleworking effective July 5, 2022 Virginia state employees will return to the workplace. Consistent with pre-pandemic policies telework may be an option for certain eligible positions. Eligible positions are determined by the type of work and job requirements of the position as defined by heads of agencies.

Minimum Qualifications

A Masters degree in Physics or eighteen graduate semester hours in Physics. The ability to use instructional technology is required.

Additional Considerations

Occupational experience in the field. Experience with Canvas or other online course management tools. College level teaching experience online experience a plus. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and written. The ability to work with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students.
