Job Summary:

The College of Lake County is seeking innovative and engaging instructors to develop programs and teach classes for adults in the community. Students range from those beginning or enhancing their career to those adding hobbies, experiences, or community to their lives.

Job Description:

Adjunct faculty: 

  • Will develop and teach in the assignedsubject(s) and level(s) in new or existing programs. 

  • Will fulfill administrative requirements, meet established deadlinesand complete required training. 

  • Expected to stay current in compliance training, including complianceunder Title IX “Responsible Employee” and, if applicable, Clery ActCampus Security Authority as a condition of employment. 

  • Will agree to and follow appropriate College and department policiesand procedures. 

Schedule varies. Days, evenings and Saturday hours are possible. 

Possible class locations include CLCGrayslake Campus, Southlake Campus (VernonHills) or Lakeshore Campus (Waukegan), Braeloch Facility,CLCAdvancedTechnology Center (Gurnee) or aCLCextension site. 

Possible delivery modes include in-person, virtual live via Zoom, asynchronous, or ahybrid of the aforementioned. In-person is most common. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Relevant teaching experience to the proposed programs.
  • Valid certifications or licenses for related topics (e.g. Continuing Education credits, position-specific training) 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and teachadults successfully. 
  • Demonstrated ability to teach successfully both in person and online. 
  • Competency and/or commitment to learn and use technologiescommonly used in instruction at CLC: Zoom, Canvas, Destiny, AdobeCloud, Microsoft 365, etc. 
  • Ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diversecultures, gender identities, language groups, and abilities;demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverseacademic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds ofcommunity college students, faculty, and staff, including those withdisabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships withthose contacted in the course of work. 

 

Desired Qualifications 

  • Three (3) years of relevant, successful experience teaching adults atthe experience level for which you are applying. 
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Education or related field.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English. 

Hiring Range: $25.00-90.00/hour

This posting will be used to obtain a pool of qualified candidates. As teaching needs arise, applications will be reviewed for possible interviews. The number of adjunct faculty hired varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department. Adjunct faculty hires and assignments are coordinated by the department chairs.
