Job Description
The Department of Biology is hiring two types of adjunct faculty to teach courses at the Roanoke site for our:
• Medical Laboratory Science program: Foundations of Medical Laboratory Science (MLAB 401) and Medical Laboratory Science Operations (MLAB 411) or • Non-majors: Human Anatomy and Physiology I & II (BIOL 310) or Microbiology (BIOL 311)
Successful applicants will teach the lecture, clinical simulations, or lab components for their courses, all of which will be offered in-person. Instructional responsibilities include but not limited to:
The Department of Biology supports and encourages our adjunct faculty to engage in ongoing professional development through their participation in programs, trainings, or seminars offered by Radfords Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning and by other organizations at Radford University. Adjunct faculty are also highly encouraged to participate in departmental, college, and university events.
Required Qualifications
All faculty must have at least a Masters degree in the field and discipline in which they are teaching, with 18 hours of coursework related to the courses being taught. In some cases, subject to the approval by the Provost, a faculty member could be recommended for appointment based on substitution of significant experience for the degree.
Clinical Certifications
Candidates applying to teach courses in the Medical Laboratory Science program (i.e., MLAB 401 or MLAB 411) must hold a current certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. Categorical certifications will not be considered. Candidates must have at least three years of experience working as a medical laboratory scientist. This certification is not needed if you are applying to teach Anatomy and Physiology or Microbiology.

Candidates will need to be clear on whether they are applying to teach in the MLS program or applying to teach A&P or Microbiology.
Your cover letter must be single-spaced, 2 pages maximum, no less than 11-point font, 1-inch margins, and use Times New Roman, Aptos Arial, or Calibri font.
CV and References
Candidates must also submit their curriculum vitae and the names and contact information for three professional references, not part of your letter page limit.
Transcripts
Applicants must submit an unofficial copy of transcripts of post-secondary course work with the application. If the applicants official transcripts are on file in the Office of the Provost, a statement indicating such must be submitted in lieu of the documents with the application. Official transcripts of all post-secondary course work will be required upon selection for hire.

New Faculty Orientation
Adjunct faculty must attend a scheduled new adjunct faculty orientation as offered upon appointment. The orientation date and time will be announced.
