Kforce has a client that is seeking an ADA Document Remediation Specialist for a Remote role. Overview: A large, multi-brand financial services organization is seeking an ADA Document Remediation Specialist to lead the hands-on remediation of a substantial portfolio of public-facing legal and disclosure documents. These documents - primarily PDFs - were not originally designed for accessibility and must be rebuilt and tagged to meet ADA compliance standards and be fully navigable by assistive technologies such as screen readers. This is not a web development or application accessibility role. The primary focus is document-level accessibility remediation - specifically PDF tagging, reading order correction, structural markup, and assistive technology validation using Adobe Acrobat Pro as the core tool. The organization has already completed its internal assessment and understands the scope of the problem. The assessment phase is done. What is needed now is an experienced executor who can step in, begin remediating documents immediately, and bring structure and repeatability to the process. The ideal candidate will not only perform the remediation work at a high level of quality and consistency but will also help establish sustainable workflows, train internal team members, and contribute to a long-term governance model that prevents future accessibility gaps. The engagement is phased. The initial phase involves a focused set of priority documents tied to an upcoming business milestone. The second and primary phase involves hundreds of documents (sub-1,000 total) on a flexible, risk-driven timeline. There is also an ongoing maintenance component, as documents are periodically updated and will require re-remediation over time. This is not a one-and-done project - the organization needs someone who can think beyond the immediate backlog and help build a durable accessibility practice.

Requirements:

  • Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Acrobat Pro for PDF accessibility remediation; This is the primary tool - candidates must be able to navigate the tag tree, content panel, reading order tool, and accessibility checker with speed and confidence
  • Deep working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 success criteria as applied to documents, not just web pages; Must understand how success criteria translate to PDF-specific tagging and structure requirements
  • Hands-on experience with screen reader testing using JAWS, NVDA, and/or VoiceOver to validate document accessibility beyond automated checks
  • Familiarity with accessibility evaluation tools such as PAC (PDF Accessibility Checker), axe, or WAVE
  • Strong understanding of ADA requirements and Section 508 compliance standards as they apply to public-facing documents in regulated industries
  • Excellent documentation skills - must be able to create clear process guides, training materials, and status reports that can be understood by non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently, manage a high-volume workload, and maintain consistent quality over extended periods
  • Strong communication skills - must be comfortable training others, providing QA feedback, and presenting progress to leadership
