Program Specialist-Technician

The Idaho State Tax Commission is seeking candidates for a Program Specialist Technician in the Sales Tax Audit (STA) unit. This position is located at the scenic State of Idaho Chinden campus in Boise.
Responsibilities:
- Research, review, analyze, and perform mini-audit/cases on public works, private/commercial, and federal project reports for construction projects in Idaho to ensure compliance with sales and use tax and withholding tax laws enforced by the Idaho State Tax Commission
- Educate in-state and out-of-state contractors as well as other state and local government agencies by interpreting, explaining, and applying Idaho sales/use tax laws and rules and withholding tax information as they relate to specific construction situations.
- Determine when a tax liability exists and then prepare appropriate workpapers, audit correspondence, billing letters and NODD's.
- Make decisions concerning tax liability in the application of Idaho laws.
- Prepare and mail billing letters and issue tax releases independently and without review of the supervisor.
- Determine which construction projects to select for review and which contractors and subcontractors to contact for information.
- Provide training to contractors, contractors' associations, and other state agencies regarding the tax laws relating to contractors working in Idaho.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Determining program compliance with state or federal laws.

- Preparing and presenting detailed information to groups of people.
