Responsibilities -----------------
### Plan and Implement Participant Programming
Plan and implement participant programming to meet the needs of adults with physical and cognitive disabilities.
### Implement Treatment Plan Approaches
Implement treatment plan approaches as designed to ensure the best possible outcomes for participants.
### Develop Monthly Activity Calendar
Develop a monthly activity calendar that includes a variety of engaging and interactive programs.
### Demonstrate Interactive, Creative, and Engagement Programs
Demonstrate interactive, creative, and engagement programs that promote socialization, skill-building, and fun.
### Assist Participants in Therapeutic Interventions
Assist participants in appropriate therapeutic interventions, such as occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physical therapy.
### Assist in Planning, Development, and Participation in Participant Programming
Assist in planning, development, and participation in participant programming, including recruiting, scheduling, and training volunteers.
### Maintain Reference Library of Activity Materials
Maintain a reference library of activity materials, including books, games, and puzzles.
### Assist in Recruiting, Scheduling, and Training Volunteers
Assist in recruiting, scheduling, and training volunteers to assist with activities.
### Maintain Clean and Safe Work Environment
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including the activity room and surrounding areas.
### Provide Personal Care to Participants as Needed
Provide personal care to participants as needed, including assistance with bathing, dressing, and grooming.
### Consult with Staff Members Regarding Participant Issues
Consult with appropriate staff members regarding participant issues through attendance at interdisciplinary team meetings.
### Document According to Regulations and Policies
Document according to regulations and policies, including participant records and activity reports.
### Ability to Lift 50 Pounds
Able to lift 50 pounds, as required for participant transportation and other duties.
### May Drive Participants to and from Center
May drive participants to and from the center, as required.
### Performs Other Duties as Assigned
Performs other duties as assigned, including weekend and evening work.
### Ability to Relate Well to Frail Seniors and/or Challenged Adults
Ability to relate well to frail seniors and/or challenged adults, including those with physical, psychological, memory, and other impairments.
### Ability to Communicate Clearly and Effectively in Written Form
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written form, including participant records and activity reports.
### Ability to Communicate with Participants Family Members and Staff
Ability to communicate with participants family members and staff, including regular updates and progress reports.
### Willingness to Learn Therapeutic Interventions
Willingness to learn appropriate therapeutic interventions for adults with physical, psychological, memory, and other impairments.
### Flexibility to Respond to Constantly Changing and Demanding Situations
Flexibility to respond to constantly changing and demanding situations, including unexpected participant needs and staff requests.
Qualifications --------------
### Education
Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent. GED preferred.
### Experience
An ideal candidate will have an interest in working with people diagnosed with intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and/or dementia. One year of experience working with the mental health and/or behavioral health population preferred.
