Oxford International Junior Programmes offers a range of summertime ESL programmes at carefully chosen centres in the UK, Canada, and the US. Our programmes aim to create a study experience of educational value, of cultural interest, and, of course, full of fun and memories to take home.
Our Boca Raton summer program is based at Florida Atlantic University*, where students receive a combination of 15 hours English language tuition per week and a comprehensive programme of activities and excursions. The activity programme will include daytime and evening activities as well as half-day and full-day excursions to attractions and places of cultural interest.
We are currently looking for staff for contracts of various length from end-of-June to end of-July 2026 (programme dates are June 29 – July 30, 2026).
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Activity Leader plays a key role in our Junior Programme, and will lead groups of students on trips and activities in a safe, fun, and responsible manner. More than a chaperone, Activity Leaders engage with students to spur discussion (in English!), answer questions, and act as a positive role model.
Activity leaders may also be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing on-site activities that are inspiring, dynamic, and most importantly - fun!
Person Specifications
You are:
- A confident, outgoing and sociable character.
- Have a positive, “can-do” approach to work.
- Demonstrate high levels of professional conduct.
- Demonstrate respect for equal opportunities and respect for race and diversity.
It would be great if you:
- Have experience of working in a residential setting.
- Have experience of working with 9–17-year-olds.
- Hold a valid First Aid qualification and / or a lifeguard certificate.
- Are familiar with the UBC campus, downtown Vancouver, and other Vancouver attractions.
Requirements
- Eligible to work in US
- Strong communication skills. You’ll always be leading students in either activities or on excursions.
- CEFR C1+ English Proficiency
- Great organizational skills with a proactive planning approach.
- Flexibility, adaptability and ability to cope with changing priorities.
- A drive to work with fun, like-minded people to work collaboratively and contribute to team success.
- The ability to motivate a group of young people.
