Position Summary

Our skilled nursing facility is actively hiring for an Activities Director. The Activity Director isresponsible for planning, organizing, and implementing a comprehensive activities program that meets the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive needs of residents. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while enhancing residents' quality of life through meaningful engagement and person-centered programming.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and oversee a monthly activities calendar that reflects residents' interests, abilities, and needs
  • Conduct resident assessments to identify preferences, hobbies, and individualized activity goals
  • Plan and facilitate group and one-on-one activities, including recreational, social, spiritual, and educational programs
  • Coordinate special events, holiday celebrations, and community outings
  • Encourage resident participation and promote a positive, engaging environment
  • Maintain accurate documentation of participation, assessments, and care plans in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure activities align with resident care plans
  • Supervise, train, and schedule activities staff and volunteers
  • Manage department budget, supplies, and inventory
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and facility policies and regulations
  • Maintain a safe and organized activity environment
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or related field preferred
  • Certification as an Activity Director (ADC, CDP, or equivalent) required per state regulations
  • Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing facility setting preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work with elderly and disabled populations with compassion and patience
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for activities in long-term care
