Duties
Middletown Prairie Elementary is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Action Based Learning (ABL) Teacher to provide students with engaging, movement-based learning experiences designed to improve academic achievement, focus, behavior, and overall student wellness. The ABL Teacher will implement research-based strategies that integrate purposeful physical activity with academic instruction to support student learning and development.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver Action Based Learning lessons and activities that support academic and developmental goals.
- Utilize movement-based instructional strategies to enhance student engagement, focus, and learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, interventionists, special education staff, and administrators to support student achievement.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming learning environment.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of Action Based Learning spaces and equipment.
- Participate in professional development related to brain-based learning, physical activity, and student engagement.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families regarding program goals and student progress.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or district administration.
Qualifications
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Elementary Education endorsement, Physical Education endorsement is preferred.
- Experience working with elementary-age students preferred.
- Knowledge of Action Based Learning principles and brain-based instructional strategies preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Understanding of the connection between movement, cognition, and learning.
- Ability to motivate and engage students through active learning experiences.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Please see the attached current 2025-2026 Salary Schedule (our existing 4-year collective bargaining agreement will expire at the end of the 2025-2026 school year and we will be negotiating a new agreement that will begin with the 2026-2027 school year).
