Position Summary
Manage, plan, direct, and coordinate the Albuquerque Community Safety (ACS) Training Academy and the departments comprehensive training and workforce development programs, including, but is not limited to the ACS Responder Academy, Field Training Responder (FTR) Program, On-the-Job Training (OJT), and continuing education. Develop and oversee curriculum, academy operations, instructional delivery, field training, competency evaluations, and quality assurance to ensure responders are prepared for safe, effective, and independent service. Collaborate with department leadership and community partners to align training with ACS strategic priorities, operational needs, evidence-based practices, and evolving community safety response models while fostering a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and professional excellence.
ACS is seeking a functional leader responsible for the development, certification, and ongoing training of ACS personnel.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Criminal Justice. Or a related field; and
Seven (7) year of public administration, community engagement, quality assurance, criminal justice, government, non-profit or political organizational experience; and
To include four (4) years of supervisory experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Drivers License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operators Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Successful completion of a security background check conducted by the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI)
Working Conditions
Environmental:
This position primarily performs duties in instructional and training environments, with additional responsibilities in field-based settings. Work under potentially abusive, hazardous or emergency conditions.
Physical:
May require maintaining physical condition necessary for standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, and climbing for extended periods of time. Must be able to operate while wearing PPE, gloves, mask and protective outer clothing.
