Job Description

We are seeking an Acoustic Test Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in hands-on acoustic and audio measurements on wearable devices and a proven ability to execute documented test procedures and produce traceable reports within a regulated quality environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute acoustic test protocols on devices under test, including gain, output level, frequency response, and calibration measurements, following procedures.
  • Set up and operate the measurement bench: HATS/acoustic couplers, audio interfaces, acoustic calibrators, and device mounting/fitting.
  • Run acoustic measurement software end-to-end: device and channel configuration, microphone and speaker calibration, measurement capture, and data archiving.
  • Apply acceptance criteria and gating. Flag out-of-tolerance results, calibration faults, and anomalies for review.
  • Produce and file traceable test reports in the quality records system, including test identifiers, device serial numbers, calibration records, and raw and processed data.
  • Maintain lab records, equipment calibration status, and device logs.
  • Escalate measurement-judgment and calibration questions to the supervising engineer.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of acoustic or audio measurement or lab-test experience, including SPL, frequency response, gain, and level measurements.
  • Aptitude to learn real-ear and insertion-gain measurement methods.
  • Ability to operate measurement hardware such as audio interfaces, acoustic calibrators, and acoustic test fixtures or couplers.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline. Ability to follow written procedures precisely and reproducibly.
  • Basic scripting in Python and/or MATLAB to operate tools and run analysis scripts.
  • Reliable, organized, and able to work independently within a structured process.
  • Comfort with macOS or ability to ramp quickly.

Preferred Skills:

  • Audiology or hearing-device measurement background, including real-ear measurements, insertion gain, and dynamic-range compression.
  • Experience in regulated or quality-controlled environments such as FDA, ISO 13485, or medical-device design verification.
  • Familiarity with an electronic quality management system (eQMS).

Education

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in acoustics, audio or electrical engineering, physics, audiology or hearing science, music or audio technology, biomedical engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on lab or test experience.

Logistics

  • Location: On-site, lab-based, Redmond, WA.
  • Engagement: Contingent worker, full-time, on-site. Not remote-eligible.
  • Ramp: Approximately four weeks to independent execution.
