Accounts Receivable Team Lead

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Accounts Receivable Team Lead to join our growing team in Knoxville, TN. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a passion for leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
The Accounts Receivable Team Lead will oversee daily AR operations while supervising a team of approximately 5 team members. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience, excellent communication skills, and a solid background in accounts receivable processes. Experience with Sage Intacct ERP is highly preferred (not required).
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and support a team of 5 Accounts Receivable professionals
Oversee daily AR functions including invoicing, cash applications, collections, and account reconciliations
Monitor aging reports and partner with customers to resolve outstanding balances in a timely manner
Ensure accurate and timely month-end close activities related to accounts receivable
Develop and improve AR processes, procedures, and internal controls
Assist with escalated customer account issues and resolution management
Track team performance metrics and provide coaching and ongoing development opportunities
Collaborate cross-functionally with accounting, finance, sales, and customer service teams
Support audit requests and maintain accurate financial documentation
Utilize ERP systems to manage reporting, workflows, and process efficiencies
Qualifications
5+ years of Accounts Receivable experience required
Prior experience leading or mentoring a team of at least 5 employees required
Strong understanding of AR principles, collections, billing, and cash application processes
Experience with Sage Intacct ERP strongly preferred
Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
Experience improving processes and implementing efficiencies within AR operations
Previous experience in a high-volume transaction environment is a plus

Pay Details: $65,000.00 to $67,000.00 per year
