Job Title: Accounts Payable Specialist
Location: Plano, TX
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite (Monday–Friday)
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM 
Pay Rate: $23 – $28 per hour
Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to support daily accounting operations in a fast-paced environment. This role is responsible for processing invoices, expense reports, and purchase orders while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely payments.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in accounts payable, excellent organizational skills, and proficiency in Excel and automated accounting systems.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable Processing

  • Process vendor invoices, employee expenses, and purchase order requests accurately and in a timely manner

  • Ensure all transactions comply with company policies and accounting procedures

  • Manage invoice approvals and workflows within expense management systems

Vendor & Internal Support

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries regarding invoices and outstanding balances

  • Research and resolve discrepancies, initiating follow-up to prevent delinquent accounts

  • Provide support for accounts payable-related requests and internal inquiries

Expense Reporting & Auditing

  • Perform quality control audits of expense reports to ensure compliance and proper documentation

  • Communicate with employees regarding missing receipts, approvals, or discrepancies

Systems & Reporting

  • Maintain and update reporting data using Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions

  • Support ticketing systems related to accounts payable inquiries and issue resolution

  • Provide user support and training for expense, invoice, and purchase order systems

Month-End & General Support

  • Assist with month-end closing procedures

  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned

  • Support occasional errands such as mail handling or shipping coordination
Qualifications
Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting role preferred

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

  • Experience with invoice processing, expense reporting, and vendor management

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP

  • Experience with expense management and ERP systems preferred

  • Familiarity with general ledger coding and accounting practices
