Accounts Payable Specialist

Itasca Headquarters - Hybrid Position

National electrical distribution company is looking for an ambitious and outgoing individual to be part of our accounting team.

The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for processing invoices and credits in a timely and accurate manner, as well as resolving discrepancies and supporting related accounting functions in a high-volume fast-paced environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

1. Process Vendor invoices accurately and on a timely basis.
2. Perform three-way matching of purchase orders, receipts and invoices.
3. Contact vendors for the purpose of acquiring invoices for unmatched receipts and billing discrepancies.
4. Bill customer for material shipped direct from vendors.
5. Reconcile monthly vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
6. Analyze reports for unbooked receipts and billing discrepancies.
7. Process receipt POs for payment.
8. Process direct Sales Orders for payment and customer invoicing.
9. Process EDI invoices.
10. Contact purchasers/buyers and the receiving department on pricing and quantity issues.
11. Scan all invoices and backup documents for payables.
12. Enter monthly rebates/cost credits.
13. Collaboration with Credit Department and Accounting.
14. Communicate with internal departments regarding payment inquiries.
15. Other ad hoc activities as needed

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

1. High school diploma or GED certification required.
2. Minimum of 2 years accounts payable experience.
3. Competent in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
4. Strong problem solving skills.
5. High attention to detail with strong accuracy in data entry and transaction review

Physical Requirements of the Essential Functions for this Position:

1. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
2. Make repeated movements of fingers, hands, and wrists.
