Join our dynamic construction team as an integral member responsible for steering our accounting operations towards precision and efficiency. In this hands-on role, you will be pivotal in managing financial activities, ensuring the accurate reflection of our financial health, and partnering with both leadership and project teams to drive success.
Your role will focus on harnessing your extensive experience in construction accounting to maintain robust job costing, comprehensive WIP reporting, and effective project financial management. As we grow, your insights will be crucial in refining accounting procedures and supporting strategic decisions.
**Core Duties**
**Financial Oversight**
- Oversee daily financial operations, encompassing general ledger management, and orchestrating accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Develop and review detailed financial statements monthly, quarterly, and annually.
- Lead month-end and year-end close activities ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
- Collaborate with ownership in delivering impactful financial insights and operational evaluations.
**Project Financial Management**
- Ensure precise job costing and robust management of Work-in-Progress (WIP) assessments.
- Collaborate with project managers to evaluate financial outcomes and monitor project budgets.
- Conduct variance analyses, offering strategic recommendations to enhance profitability.
**Strategic Planning & Cash Management**
- Contribute to budgeting dialogues and forecasting initiatives.
- Oversee cash flow management and engage in financial planning activities to mitigate risks and identify efficiencies.
- Deliver ad hoc financial analyses to empower leadership decisions.
**Enhancement & Compliance**
- Spearhead initiatives to refine accounting processes and bolster internal controls.
- Act as a liaison with external auditors, CPA firms, and financial institutions.
- Ensure adherence to compliance mandates and enhance ERP accounting system usage.
**Requirements**
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- At least 5–10 years of direct accounting experience within construction or related project-based environments.
- Proficiency in job costing, WIP analysis, and construction accounting methodologies.
- Competency with ERP/accounting software like Sage 300 or Viewpoint.
- Expertise in Excel and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities independently while maintaining organizational excellence.
**Preferred Assets**
- Experience in the mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, or general contracting sectors.
- CPA or CMA credentials, while not mandatory, would be advantageous.
