1. Job Summary The Accountant is responsible for managing a wide range of financial, compliance, and reporting tasks related to third-party transactions, tax filings, and internal reporting processes. This role handles journal entries, reconciliations, accounts payable functions for tax-related payments, and ensures timely submission of regulatory filings. The Accountant also prepares specialized internal reports such as employee meal tracking, commissions, SWAM, MDOT, and CSC billing. A successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple deadlines, and experience working with both accounting systems and external vendor platforms. 2. Key Responsibilities Download financial and activity reports from third-party vendor platforms. Enter journal entries for third-party transactions. Perform monthly reconciliations for third-party accounts. Prepare and file sales tax returns in a timely and accurate manner. File annual reports and personal property tax documents as required. Maintain and update vehicle logs for the organization. Process accounts payable entries for sales tax and online tax-related payments. Record AP entries for Velocity reimbursements and other tax reimbursements. Prepare and submit internal reports including: Employee meal reports , Commissions reports, SWAM (Small, Women-owned, and Minority-owned) business reports, MDOT (Maryland Department of Transportation) reports, CSC (Corporate Service Center) billing reports. Ensure compliance with regulatory deadlines and company accounting standards. 3. Working Conditions / Physical Requirements Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times (e.g., files, laptop, office equipment). Ability to use hands and fingers for keyboarding, writing, and calculator use. May occasionally need to stand, bend, or reach during filing or light office organization. Visual acuity required for viewing computer screens and reviewing detailed financial documents. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
