The City of Wyoming is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist II with strong communication and customer focused skills. This position will play a pivotal role within the department and the City by administering retiree pension payments and essential benefit programs.
In this role, you will provide support and build relationships with staff, retirees, and their beneficiaries and gain a deep understanding of the defined benefit plan and the operations throughout the City.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare monthly pension payroll, including related tax and benefit payments
- Respond to inquiries (phone, email, and in person) from retirees, beneficiaries, and active employees
- Prepare pension estimates for active employees and support their transition into retirement
- Provide support to the Retirement Board in overseeing the defined benefit plan trusts
- Coordinate with the City's actuary to complete annual plan valuations
- Assist with special projects, including account reconciliations, financial reporting, variance analysis, and quarterly and annual reporting requirements.
- Partner with benefit providers on annual audits.
Candidates will need to effectively communicate with City staff, retirees, other governmental agencies, and the public to ensure compliance with applicable policies, contracts, regulations, and laws and demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Effective July 1, 2026, the wages for this position will be $25.31 - $31.30 per hour.
