Position Overview:

The Accounting Specialist provides accounting support across multiple areas of finance, specific to accounts payable, vendor application completions and certificates of insurance requests and financial reporting tasks.  This role assists with audits and participates in process improvements.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Process a higher volume of transactions and perform account reconciliations with minimal supervision.
  • Research, track, and resolve moderate financial discrepancies and customer/vendor issues.
  • Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports.
  • Support internal and external audit processes by preparing documentation and schedules.
  • Train and mentor junior Accounting Specialists or clerical staff on standard processes and systems.
  • Assist with system implementations, upgrades, and financial process improvements.
  • Monitor compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
  • Partner with branch and department leaders to resolve financial questions and support reporting needs.
  • Resolve advanced discrepanciees involving Accounts Payable
  • Complete vendor applications and certificate of insurance requests. 
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality, professionalism, and accuracy in all financial matters.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s Degree or coursework in Accounting preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles, AP/AR processes, and reconciliations.
  • Experience with accounting or ERP software and strong Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of direct experience with Accounts Payable, paperwork and processing. 
  • Strong attention to detail and business acumen. 
Travel Requirements:
  • This position does not require regular travel as part of its primary responsibilities.
  • However, occasional travel may be required, up to 10%, primarily for occasional off-site meetings, training sessions, or company events.
  • Travel, when necessary, will be communicated in advance and aligned with business needs.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
  • This position primarily operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to work at a desk for extended periods while using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment.
  • The position involves sitting for extended periods, performing data entry, and engaging in frequent communication via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
  • The role involves regular communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders, both in person and through virtual platforms.
  • The physical demands of the job may include occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds.
