Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:
· Documented working knowledge of accounting and reporting practices.
· Experience maintaining spreadsheets and databases, including importing and exporting data.
· Experience assisting in interpreting and analyzing accounting data in various aspects of grants.
· Experience applying analysis to the departmental or institutional needs and determining compliance with pertinent guidelines, rules, regulations, and laws.
· Experience maintaining effective working relationships with representatives of related contact agencies, departmental staff, and the general public.
· Experience communicating effectively in oral and written form.

Minimum Education and Experience
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both. Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or other curriculum that would provide a core curriculum in financial management coursework from an appropriately accredited institution;
Or an Associate's degree in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of accounting or auditing experience;
Or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four (4) years of experience as an accounting technician, three of which must have been at an advanced level.
