Job Summary
This position performs technical duties in the maintenance, auditing, and reconciliation of all accounts held by the Tax Assessor-Collector; assists in the preparation of personnel attendance and payroll records; and supports bookkeeping department functions.
Major Duties
- Monitors and reconciles bank accounts pertaining to the Special Inventory Tax-Escrow and Special Inventory Tax-Exclusive Bank Accounts.
- Performs fund transfers that pertain to the SIT/VIT penalty/interest Fees and late fees.
- Writes and cuts out checks for the Special Inventory Tax-Escrow and Special Inventory Tax-Exclusive Bank Accounts.
- Provides bank account balance for Special Inventory Tax-Escrow and Special Inventory Tax-Exclusive Bank Accounts.
- Investigate any SIT/VIT discrepancies and report them.
- Records SIT/VIT daily financial totals.
- Runs and prints SIT/VIT reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, or at a certain time frame.
- Monitors and reconciles bank statements and accounts pertaining to the City of El Cenizo, City of Rio Bravo, WCAD Business Rendition, Drainage District, Laredo College, State Highway, and other entities.
- Monitors and reconciles old bank statements and accounts, such as the old VIT (Vehicle Inventory Tax), Liquor License, Motor Vehicle and Property Tax Internet, and Motor Vehicle and Property Tax Voucher.
- Prepares paperwork and submits reports based on any discrepancies.
- Requests and issues refunds based on any discrepancies.
- Distributes and collects United Way contribution forms from employees.
- Distributes and collects employee sick pool forms.
- Verifies teller cash, check, and credit card receipts; resolves discrepancies.
- Prepares daily cash deposit for the bank.
- Oversees and confirms daily cash deposit pick by the Armored Car company.
- Scans and indexes checks, credit card receipts, and electronic checks.
- Assist in the printing out of daily financial fund reports.
- Assists in cash fund exchange for the Tax Office Mini Vault.
- Assists in end-of-day teller credit card close-outs.
- Assist in collecting end-of-day teller statues.
- Assists in the resolution of complex out-of-balance errors.
- Balances cashboxes and teller vouchers.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.

- This position is covered by Civil Service; therefore, is subject to the Civil Service Rules and Regulations in addition to all other Webb County policies.
