Description

Lead Project Cost Accountant

U.S. Citizenship Required (No Dual Citizenship)
Are you an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment? We're looking for a Lead Project Cost Accountant to play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting complex government contracts, and driving process improvements within a collaborative accounting team.

What You'll Do

  • Lead revenue recognition activities under ASC 606, including Contract Review Worksheets (CRWs)
  • Review contract setup within the ERP system
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and cost reclassifications
  • Perform inventory net realizable value (NRV) assessments
  • Analyze balance sheet and income statement variances
  • Prepare quarterly Estimate-at-Completion (EAC) profit reporting and financial flux analysis
  • Calculate and support monthly accruals, including warranty and program-related accruals
  • Prepare corporate reporting schedules and HFM reporting packages
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
  • Partner with internal and external auditors, including SOX compliance efforts
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis


What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree with 9+ years of relevant accounting experience, or
    • Master's degree with 7+ years of experience, or
    • 13+ years of related experience in lieu of a degree
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAPASC 606, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)
  • Experience with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
  • Experience supporting internal and external audits
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • CPA or active progress toward CPA preferred

Preferred Experience

  • CPA certification
  • Oracle ERP
  • OneStream or similar account reconciliation software
  • Government contracting or project-based accounting
