    Job Title: Accounting Manager - Shared ServicesLocation: Huntsville, ALKBR is seeking an experienced and process‑driven Accounting Manager to join our Mission Technology Solutions (MTS) Shared Services Accounting Team. Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing assigned accounting operations and related financial reporting & forecasting, ERP systems software oversight, and operational finance processes within a highly diversified $4.5B Government Services organization. This position serves as a key people leader and strategic partner, responsible for strengthening assigned processes, enhancing reporting and forecasting capabilities, and leading scalable, automated solutions that improve efficiency, transparency, and audit readiness.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and oversee assigned functional accounting operations within Shared Services, including departmental financial close, reconciliations, and reporting activitiesManage and develop a team of accounting professionals, drive performance, accountability, and ongoing professional growthSupport and enhance monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reportingPartner with leadership to support forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis activitiesEstablish and maintain strong internal controls, ensuring compliance with SOX, DCAA, DFARS, and other regulatory requirementsDrive process improvement and automation initiatives across accounting and operational workflowsDevelop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting dashboards to improve visibility and decision‑makingLead and support system implementations, enhancements, and integrations, including testing, change management, and user developmentCollaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to resolve issues, improve processes, and support business prioritiesSupport internal and external audit activities, ensuring timely and accurate responses to audit requestsProvide oversight and leadership for global disbursements and related operational processes within the broader accounting functionPerform other duties as assignedBasic QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (equivalent experience accepted)12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general accounting, financial reporting, and/or operational accounting3+ years of experience in a management or leadership role with direct responsibility for team performance and developmentStrong understanding of accounting principles, financial close processes, and internal controlsExperience supporting forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis activitiesDemonstrated ability to operate independently, take ownership of processes, and drive results in a complex environmentExperience supporting regulatory compliance and audit activities, including working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and CAS, with a strong understanding of SOX controls and public company reporting standardsStrong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skillsExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to partner effectively across functionsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with experience in reporting and data analysisPreferred QualificationsExperience in a Shared Services or centralized accounting environmentExperience supporting large, complex, or multi‑entity organizations, preferably within government contractsFamiliarity with ERP systems and financial tools including hands‑on use of Costpoint and Hyland OnBaseExperience leading or supporting system implementations, process improvements, or automation initiativesExperience developing and monitoring KPIs and operational metricsExposure to global accounting operations or international business environmentsExperience supporting audits and regulatory complianceAdditional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation.
