Our client is a fast-growing company in the events and experiences industry seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and lead a small, high-performing team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys improving processes, ensuring financial accuracy, and supporting a dynamic business with multiple vendors, locations, and event-related transactions.

The Accounting Manager will play a key role in the month-end close process, vendor management, tax compliance, and continuous process improvement while mentoring two direct reports.

Job Details

Responsibilities
Manage and develop a team of two accounting professionals, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance management.
Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Oversee accounts payable operations, vendor onboarding, payment approvals, and vendor relationship management.
Ensure compliance with sales tax, use tax, 1099 reporting, and other federal, state, and local tax requirements.
Partner with operations and event teams to ensure accurate accounting for event-related revenue and expenses.
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows through automation, improved controls, and standardized processes.
Assist with annual audits by preparing schedules and supporting external auditors.
Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning as needed.
Participate in ERP system enhancements and other finance-related projects.
Assist leadership with ad hoc financial analysis and special projects.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close processes.
Experience managing vendor relationships and AP operations.
Knowledge of sales tax, use tax, and 1099 compliance.
Advanced Excel skills with experience working in modern ERP systems.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner cross-functionally.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications
CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
Experience in the events, hospitality, entertainment, experiential marketing, or project-based services industry.
Experience leading process improvement initiatives or ERP implementations.
Familiarity with multi-entity or multi-location accounting environments.

Month-end close is completed accurately and on schedule.
Vendor relationships and payment processes are efficient and well-managed.
Tax filings are completed accurately and on time.
Accounting processes become increasingly automated and scalable.
The accounting team is engaged, productive, and continuously developing.
