We are partnering with a well-established nonprofit organization to hire an experienced Accounting Manager for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This position offers the potential to convert to a permanent employee based on performance and business needs. The Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, supervise the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams, and ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards. Job Details

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Supervise and mentor Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to internal controls
  • Manage grant accounting activities, including tracking restricted funding, monitoring grant expenditures, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and audit preparation activities
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Review and improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting procedures
  • Partner with leadership and program teams to provide financial analysis and operational support
  • Assist with special projects and other accounting management responsibilities as needed

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Prior nonprofit accounting experience required, including grant accounting experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work with complex spreadsheets, formulas, pivot tables, and financial reporting tools
  • Experience working within the harm reduction sector and/or with SAPC-funded programs or grants is preferred but not required
