Job Details

Accounting Manager

A growing multi-location retail and grocery organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to support day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives. This role will partner closely with leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and support the continued growth of the business. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting fundamentals, retail or inventory-based industry experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Oversee general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management functions
  • Monitor inventory accounting, shrink, and cost controls across multiple locations
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax requirements, and internal controls
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners
  • Develop and improve accounting procedures, reporting processes, and operational efficiencies
  • Support leadership with ad hoc reporting and strategic financial projects
  • Mentor and develop accounting staff

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Prior experience in retail, grocery, distribution, or other inventory-driven environments
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and internal controls
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA
  • Grocery industry experience
