    Accounting Manager (Controller Track, A/E Industry)
    Palo Alto, CA | Full-time | Hybrid (four days on-site)

    Building Talent is partnering with a multidisciplinary architecture and engineering firm in Palo Alto seeking a strong Accounting Manager or emerging Controller to step into a key financial leadership role. This position is focused on strengthening financial operations, enhancing reporting accuracy, and supporting firm leadership with clear financial visibility.

    This role is well-suited for an Accounting Manager who is ready to step into a Controller-level position within a professional services environment. You'll oversee core accounting operations, improve systems and data integrity, and partner closely with executive leadership on financial performance and forward planning.

    Please note: Candidates without prior accounting experience in an architecture or engineering environment will not be considered.

    Core Responsibilities
    • Oversight of general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and monthly close
    • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
    • Leadership of budgeting, forecasting, and revenue/backlog analysis
    • Cash flow management, collections, vendor payments, and banking relationships
    • Oversight and optimization of Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint data integrity
    • Strengthening reporting processes, internal controls, and financial workflows
    • Management and development of accounting staff
    Required Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
    • 6-10+ years of progressive accounting experience
    • Experience supervising, mentoring, or leading accounting staff
    • Experience within an architecture or engineering firm
    • Strong proficiency in Deltek Vision and/or Vantagepoint

    This role is based in Palo Alto, CA. Candidates should currently reside within reasonable commuting distance or be able to reliably work onsite as required.
