Position Overview
Our client in Sacramento is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to support both Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions. This role is ideal for someone with a solid accounting foundation who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and takes pride in accuracy and organization.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable (AP):
Process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and timely payment
Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
Assist with weekly or monthly check runs and electronic payments
Accounts Receivable (AR):
Generate and distribute customer invoices
Apply customer payments (checks, ACH, wire) to accounts
Monitor aging reports and assist with collections follow-ups as needed
Research and resolve billing or payment discrepancies
General Accounting Support:
Maintain organized and accurate financial records
Assist with month-end close activities
Enter journal entries and support account reconciliations as assigned
Provide administrative support to the accounting team as needed
Qualifications
1-3 years of experience in an accounting clerical, AP, or AR support role
Basic understanding of accounting principles
Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with ERP or accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar)
Associate degree or coursework in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
