Accounting Associate / Payroll Coordinator

A well-established local ownership and management company on the north side of Indianapolis is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Associate / Payroll Coordinator to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a blend of accounts payable, payroll administration, HR support, and accounting operations in a collaborative, people-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Accounts Payable

  • Manage full-cycle accounts payable for multiple commercial properties

  • Process vendor invoices and ensure accurate coding and payment

  • Submit quarterly escrow draw requests to lenders

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations

  • Prepare standard journal entries

  • Assist with month-end close activities

  • Generate budget variance and financial reports

  • Support special projects and internal reporting initiatives

Payroll Administration

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for approximately 100 employees

  • Verify pay rates, hours worked, deductions, and payroll accuracy

  • Maintain payroll records and employee data

  • Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, and company policies

  • Process employee onboarding, terminations, and personnel changes

  • Maintain HRIS records and support digitization of employee files

HR & Administrative Support

  • Coordinate employee performance review processes

  • Assist with workers' compensation administration

  • Support benefits administration and annual census reporting

  • Maintain employee records and HR documentation

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to handle confidential employee and financial information

Preferred

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field

  • Experience with accounts payable and month-end accounting functions

  • Prior exposure to property management, real estate, or commercial property accounting
