LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a professional services firm on Long Island and seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support daily accounting operations. This position offers exposure to accounts receivable, trust/escrow accounting, cash management, and general accounting functions. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Salary is $55K-$65K .

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable & Cash Applications

  • Post and reconcile incoming payments, including ACH and wire transactions.

  • Prepare bank deposits and process client payments.

  • Apply customer payments accurately to open receivables.

  • Research payment discrepancies and resolve unapplied cash issues.

  • Assist with write-offs and account reconciliations.

Trust & Escrow Accounting

  • Support trust and escrow account administration.

  • Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations.

  • Maintain accurate financial records while ensuring compliance with internal procedures.

Additional Accounting Support

  • Assist with daily cash reporting activities.

  • Provide backup support for accounts payable processing.

  • Participate in special projects and accounting-related initiatives.

  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 1 year of accounting or bookkeeping experience.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

  • Experience with legal or professional services accounting software is a plus.

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and reconciliation processes.
