Senior Accountant
Location: Sacramento, CA (hybrid schedule)
Job Type: Contract 12 months plus
LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a respected healthcare organization to hire a Senior Accountant for a contract engagement. This role is heavily focused on hands-on operational accounting-ideal for candidates with strong experience managing month-end close, reconciliations, and complex journal entries in a multi-entity environment.
This position will also support an ongoing Workday ERP transition, while maintaining full ownership of day-to-day accounting responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Accounting
Prepare, review, and post complex journal entries (accruals, prepaids, intercompany, fixed assets)
Perform balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities
Investigate variances and resolve discrepancies with supporting analysis
Support fixed assets, AP accruals, banking activity, and property accounting
Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
Systems & Projects
Assist with Workday ERP transition (data validation, testing support, process improvements)
Partner cross-functionally with finance and project teams to ensure reporting accuracy
Enhance reporting and general ledger structures
Collaboration & Review
Review work completed by junior team members
Communicate financial results and key insights to leadership
Support audit readiness and documentation
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of operational accounting experience (must include close processes)
Strong experience working in multi-entity environments
Solid understanding of GAAP
Experience with fixed assets, reconciliations, and journal entries
Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs; macros a plus)
ERP experience required; Workday preferred
Healthcare industry experience is a plus
