Visit our website to see current office locations.Position OverviewThe Accounting Advisory Consultant provides advanced accounting and financial advisory services to clients while working under the strategic oversight of a principal. This role applies a strong command of U.S. GAAP and professional judgment to analyze, interpret, and advise on complex accounting matters, financial reporting, and accounting systems.The Consultant independently determines appropriate accounting treatments, prepares and analyzes financial statements and management reports, and serves as a trusted advisor to clients on financial, operational, and system-related matters.This position requires frequent client interaction, the exercise of significant discretion and independent judgment, and contributes to client service delivery, staff development, and firm initiatives. The Consultant may participate in performance reviews, workflow oversight, and staff coaching. This individual will work on the Construction & Real Estate Industry team.FLSA StatusExemptRequired Experience and EducationConstruction and/or Real Estate experience is desired. Master's degree in accounting or finance, or a bachelor's degree with the 150-hour requirement to sit for the CPA exam.Preferred Experience and CertificationsConstruction accounting experienceExperience with Foundation or Trimble accounting softwareCertified Public Accountant (CPA)Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP)4-6+ years of public accounting experienceMajor Advisory, Technical, and Client ResponsibilitiesServes as a primary day-to-day contact for assigned clients while aligning with a Principal on overall engagement strategy and client objectivesIndependently evaluates and determines appropriate accounting treatments in accordance with GAAP, consulting with Principals on highly complex or unusual matters as appropriateUnderstands clients' needs and is proactive in proposing solutionsAnalyzes financial results and provides advisory recommendations related to business performance, internal controls, and financial processesPrepares and presents management reporting packages, KPIs, and financial insights to client stakeholdersAdvises clients on accounting process improvements and best practicesPerforms professional duties, including any of the following: complex professional write-up work, audit support work, direct client consulting, and other special projectsManages client back-office accounting / month-end closeMaintain a job schedule and post percentage of completion adjustmentsUse technology to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance service deliveryActs as an accounting and systems advisor for ERP platforms, supporting clients through implementation, optimization, and ongoing system useTranslates accounting and operational requirements into system configuration guidanceWorks closely with principals, managers and staff to integrate practice development skills into a team approach to client service and new business developmentMaintains strong client service relationships and cross-sells services, as appropriateDemonstrates knowledge of all technical aspects of the job, including related knowledge of necessary systems and proceduresDemonstrates advanced technical knowledge effectively through written and verbal communication; seeks to continuously develop communication skillsIncreasingly builds a knowledge base on the firm's industry lines and service offeringsPromotes the ideas, values, mission, and vision of the firm and supports the one-firm conceptProactively seeks knowledge, new tasks, and responsibilitiesMaintains substantial client contact for effective client serviceEnsures delivery goals are met by the department through process management and inter-departmental communicationMay supervise a team for day-to-day management of scheduling, training, and proceduresResearch reference materials involving bookkeeping, payroll, and tax questionsPerforms other duties as assignedDesired Skills, Abilities, and CharacteristicsAbility to maintain confidentiality of firm and client informationEffectively communicate through oral and written meansClient-service orientedAbility to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalismExcellent organizational skillsAbility to use office equipment, including a computer, copier, printer, and fax machineAbility to demonstrate confidence and good judgment when interacting with colleagues, supervisors, and clientsAbility to work well with othersMaintains a positive/can-do attitudeWork EnvironmentAdams Brown, LLC promotes a flexible work environment with a deep commitment to technology and modern work arrangements.
