Accountant, Senior (General Ledger)

Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing general ledger activities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and supporting the month-end close and financial reporting processes. This role plays a key part in maintaining internal controls, reviewing transactions, and mentoring junior staff. The Senior Accountant will also support job accounting processes, including job setup, maintenance, and closeout, ensuring compliance with company policies and control requirements.
Position Details
Lead general ledger activities, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
Review journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by staff; ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation
Perform and oversee complex account reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Lead components of the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met and results are accurate
Review financial transactions and ensure proper classification in accordance with GAAP and company policy
Oversee job setup and closeout processes, ensuring compliance with internal controls, proper approvals, and data integrity
Monitor job-related financial activity and partner with operations to ensure accurate job costing and reporting
Develop, document, and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
Identify process improvement opportunities and drive efficiencies within the accounting function
Support internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules, documentation, and responses to auditor inquiries
Provide guidance and mentorship to associate and staff accountants; review work and support development
Partner cross-functionally with operations, finance, and other departments to support business initiatives and resolve issues
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
5+ years of progressive accounting experience required; public accounting experience preferred.
Strong technical accounting knowledge, with a deep understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research and resolve complex accounting issues.
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain accounting concepts and mentor junior staff.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism in handling confidential financial information.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with data tools (e.g., Power BI) is a plus

Pay: Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For (Colorado/New York City/California/Washington/Maryland) this ranges from $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
