Job Title: Accountant
Location: Los Angeles, CA (Downtown LA, Union Station)
Compensation: $40.10 per hour
Schedule: 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, alternating Fridays off
Work Type: Hybrid, onsite Monday and Tuesday
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Accountant to support a busy, team-oriented Finance and Administration Controller's Office. This is a temporary assignment up to six months, ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a structured accounting environment and can manage both analytical and transactional responsibilities.
This role involves a combination of financial analysis, reconciliations, reporting, and daily cash processing. The position requires strong Excel proficiency and the ability to work collaboratively while handling a high volume of work with accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze financial reports to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Reconcile accounts, sub-systems, and General Ledger transactions
- Prepare journal entries, cost transfers, and check requests
- Maintain financial records, including property ownership and escrow documentation
- Analyze financial data and prepare reports for external filings
- Process daily cash receipts and input into Oracle (AIR subsystem)
- Update daily cashflow and investment tracking spreadsheets (INV)
- Perform daily reconciliations using ALLFD, ALLBK, and Sympro systems
- Prepare daily AP cash requirements and reconcile AP journals
- Support month-end close, including reconciliations, debit memos, and journal entries
- Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation
- Collaborate with internal teams and support ongoing financial operations
Must Have / Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration with accounting emphasis, or equivalent combination of education and experience totaling at least six years
- Experience with enterprise accounting systems
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, practices, and financial controls
- Ability to analyze data, problem solve, and manage multiple priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work both independently and in a team environment
- Experience with Oracle (12) or similar ERP systems
- Experience with Sympro or similar financial tracking systems
- Prior experience supporting audits or working in a public sector environment
- Local candidate in Southern California
