Accountant – Manufacturing

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join our manufacturing team. This role will support general accounting functions with a strong focus on inventory, cost accounting, and operational reporting. The ideal candidate has experience in a manufacturing environment and understands how accounting impacts production and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries, including inventory and cost-related entries

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes

  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations, including inventory, WIP, and fixed assets

  • Support cost accounting functions, including standard costing and variance analysis

  • Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances

  • Assist with inventory cycle counts and annual physical inventory

  • Maintain accuracy of the general ledger and manufacturing sub-ledgers

  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes

  • Prepare financial reports and provide analysis to operations leadership

  • Assist with audit preparation and ensure compliance with internal controls and GAAP

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing

  • Understanding of cost accounting, inventory controls, and production processes

  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, JD Edwards, etc.)

  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with operations and supply chain teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with standard costing and bill of materials (BOM)

  • Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives

  • CPA or CMA designation (or pursuing) is a plus
