Where you will work

Along the eastern border of Washington State in the heart of the Inland Northwest lies Spokane, Washington, the headquarters for Clearwater Paper. Boasting over 150 talented employees, our corporate headquarters supports Clearwater Paper's 8 plants and mills nationwide. Functional support is provided at this location including Human Resources, IT, Finance and Accounting, and Marketing. Our employees engage in meaningful work with fellow team members who have are committed to providing a high-quality product as an essential industry.

Although the work model for this role is "Remote" we will not consider those that live outside of 90 minutes from Spokane, WA. We are not currently offering relocation for this opening.

What you will do

As the Accountant II, you are a direct contributor to the financial statement close process for the corporate general ledger accounting team. You will be responsible for month-end closing tasks such as accrual and deferral journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and various other ad hoc corporate accounting tasks, including assisting with various reporting activities for various internal customers.

Month End Closing


Ownership of assigned areas in the general ledger
Prepare journal entries in accordance with US GAAP, including preparation of appropriate supporting documentation that meets SOX requirements
Ownership of assigned balance sheet account reconciliations
Assist with other projects on ad hoc basis

Internal Control and Audit support


Provide support for internal and external audits/reviews in a timely manner
Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley procedures which supports an effective system of internal control

Financial Reporting


Perform analysis of financial results by querying financial data and creating reports
Assist in the preparation of various internal reports for management and other internal customers.

What you will need
To be successful in this position, we are looking for candidates with the following:


Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
2-4 years of experience in either public accounting or corporate accounting setting required
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office products with an emphasis on excel
Experience with enterprise resource planning systems such as JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle, etc.
Excellent attention to detail with focus on analytical skills
Solid understanding of US GAAP
Strong communication ability to partner cross-functionally with other teams
Some mental visual, physical fatigue from computer terminal use.
Remote home office.
Occasional onsite team meetings at corporate office, Spokane, WA.

The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience among other factors. Paid time off will include vacation days, personal days, and company holidays.
