This position will assist in providing timely and accurate recording of transactions for a complete presentation in a monthly financial package, various reports and analysis as requested by management. In addition, this individual is responsible for the protection of Val-Matic's assets through proper recording of transactions, compliance with regulations and regulatory agencies, acting upon cost saving opportunities, and compliance with internal control procedures. Importantly, this individual will work with the Director of Finance to identify ways to improve the overall performance of the company.ResponsibilitiesDaily DutiesCosting of new productsDaily Bank ReconciliationAnalysis and Decision SupportAssist in the identification of potential income improvement ideas, developing supporting plans to implement, and monitoring resultsCollect and analyze financial information for assigned accounts, product lines, and business units to track progress against company goalsReport current or expected financial performance and create financial models to guide decision makingAssist with the implementation of company plans and goals to maximize growth and incomeAssist with the month‑end close process, including journal entries, variance analysis, account reconciliation, and financial reportingAssist with the financial justification for new equipment & other tasks related to capital expendituresProvide data (e.g. Kinetic Power Query) for ad hoc analysisPrepare special reports and analysis as required.Reporting ResponsibilitiesReporting on variances to prior yearComplete monthly reporting that details trends in various areas of the businessDevelop methods for handling new reporting requirements, analysis, internal control and audit requirementsEnsure that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principlesAssist with data need from other departmentsCost AccountingMaintain and update the company's cost accounting system and methods.Ensure company's ERP system accurately accounts for sales, cost of sales, and inventoryAssist purchasing, as needed, to obtain the best price and terms with suppliers.
