Accountant I
Performs professional and technical difficult accounting work involving the examination, analysis, maintenance, reconciliation, and verification of financial records; responds to requests for information within the scope of authority. Position involves competing demands, performing multiple tasks, and working to deadlines. The positions essential duties are:
Prepare account reconciliation for cash, liabilities, receivables, payables, and account balances. Reconciles bank and investment accounts and resolves any problems with reconciliation. Perform research and report generation to assist external auditors and monitor visits and reviews for governing agencies. Maintains asset inventory by tagging assets and maintaining files on assets recommended for disposal. Identifies discrepancies and errors and makes necessary journal entries to correct codes; maintains and reconciles assigned ledgers and accounts; prepares spreadsheets of revenues and expenditures for assigned funds and manages allocations and reporting requirements as appropriate. Track and report expenditures to various funding agencies. Assist with the preparation and maintenance of the District budget. Prepare financial documents, exhibits, statistical summaries, and other materials for inclusion in the District's comprehensive annual financial report; research and summarize data as needed.
