Description: Job ID: AF9493-0601-1921 Position Classification: FT Administrator Position Summary: The Academic Support Specialist provides support, training, and consultation for faculty in the use of instructional methods and technologies based on sound educational practices to improve the teaching and learning experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in creating a straightforward and accessible user experience for students by working with faculty on developing and implementing various educational components within the University's Learning Management System (Blackboard).
Guide instructors through exam construction using a Learning Management System, providing technical and pedagogical support for continuous improvement throughout the entire process.
Plan, design, and implement training materials and documentation to support faculty learning and development both through asynchronous resources and formal professional development sessions.
Contributing to course quality assurance efforts and accreditation/compliance activities as they arise, such as, accessibility standards, intellectual property management, etc.
Research and experiment with innovative educational technology that could bridge gaps in teaching and learning.
Work closely with the Director of Educational Development and Technology and team members to support instructional technology software tools online and in the classroom.
Resolve basic audio visual and technical issues in the classroom environment.
Proctor exams as necessary.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Education - A college degree or four to eight years of work experience in a related field. Employment - Two years to five years (Equivalent combination of education and employment).
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, or a closely related field required. Preferred: Master's degree in education or instructional design.
Physical Requirements:
Job requires repetitive lifting of light weight objects with frequent bending and stooping, or repetitively lift average weight objects where frequent bending or stooping alternates with lighter activities. Occasionally lifts heavy objects (over 50 pounds).
Work Environment:
Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.
Salary/Pay Information:
Commensurate with experience Anticipated Schedule:
Monday - Friday 40 hours/week, some evenings and Saturdays required. Flexibility is needed as schedule is based on the needs of the School of Dentistry.
