Description

The Engineering Academic & Student Affairs office in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for one academic professional track (non-tenure accruing) faculty position with full-time effort at the rank of instructional assistant professor. This position is a 9-month appointment at the main campus in College Station, Texas, with an anticipated start date of September 14, 2026, although may start earlier The successful applicant will teach primarily at the undergraduate level and provide support for the development of the General Engineering (first-year) undergraduate program and curriculum; participate in all aspects of the department's activities; and serve the profession. The successful applicant will be responsible for the organization, delivery, evaluation and assessment of the engineering courses and student outcomes associated with those courses. The specific courses of responsibility are introductory computer programming with Python and mechanics and/or electricity and magnetism engineering physics. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Qualifications

For appointments at the instructional assistant professor level, applicants must have a doctoral degree in a closely related engineering or science discipline appropriate for the field in which the faculty member will teach.

A minimum of 3 years experience is preferred teaching computer programing with Python and engineering mechanics physics to introductory first-year college students. Experience is preferred teaching large classes (approximately 100 students) and being part of a team of instructors teaching multiple sections (10 or more) of these courses.
