Description of Job Duty:
This position provides academic advising and student success support for nursing students, including degree planning, coaching, and retention efforts. It also supports recruitment, admissions, and collaboration with campus partners while maintaining accurate student records.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in education, counseling, social work, or a related field. At least one year of related professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree from an accredited institution or 3 years of experience working with secondary or post-secondary students in academic, educational, counseling, or similar setting.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as the primary academic advisor for undergraduate Nursing students, providing guidance on course selection, scheduling, degree progression, and program requirements
- Provide academic, career, and student success coaching through goal setting, academic planning, and exploration of experiential learning opportunities.
- Maintain regular communication with students through email, phone, text, and in-person meetings to support engagement, accountability, and retention.
- Educate students on university and Nursing program policies, procedures, deadlines, and academic requirements.
- Monitor, update, and maintain accurate student files, advising records, and programs of study using university systems and records tools.
- Initiate and track official academic correspondence related to eligibility, progression, graduation, and degree completion.
- Identify students experiencing academic or personal challenges, implement early intervention strategies, and refer students to appropriate campus resources and support services.
- Collaborate with Nursing faculty, the Student Success Center, and other university offices to promote student success, retention, and engagement.
- Serve as a liaison between students, faculty, and administrative offices to resolve academic-related concerns and support student needs.
- Support recruitment and outreach efforts through participation in events, presentations, and communication with prospective students. This includes prospective student visits and campus events. Some local travel to high schools, community colleges, and career fairs. Provides feedback on the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and results.
- Assist in developing and implementing recruitment and retention strategies/events under the direction of School leadership.
- Evaluate and process admission, readmission, and transfer applications, including transcript review and related documentation.
- Assist with the evaluation, selection, and awarding of Nursing scholarships.
- Develop, update, and maintain advising materials and resources specific to the School of Nursing.
- Utilize university systems and software to maintain databases and generate reports related to advising, recruitment, retention, and student success outcomes/metrics.
- Contribute to institutional assessment, reporting, orientation, registration, and continuous improvement efforts related to advising and student services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; some recruitment activities and student events may require night and weekend hours.
