Position: A Team Specialist - Temporary - Full-time - EHR Project / Employee Training

Definition:

Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Cerner “A-Team” Specialist will perform specialized paraprofessional activities in support of Cerner or the Simulation lab. 

Compensation:

The estimated pay for this position is $24.2795 to $29.8607 per hour. This reflects only a portion of the total compensation package for this position. Additional compensation may be available for this role through differentials, incentives, and bonuses.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

This is a temporary classification. The Cerner “A-Team” Specialist incorporates entry-level paraprofessionals through journey-level specialists who work with minimum supervision. 

Essential Functions:

 Acts as a Cerner functionality champion and workflow expert by providing real time support to end users in the hospital and clinic locations. Supports all providers/end users throughout the training process and when issues arise.

  • Communicates issues with Cerner immediately by communicating to the CMO, medical staff leadership and management or submitting help desk tickets.
  • Participates in the creation of collateral and training materials for end user providers.
  • Communicates improvements, suggestions, and changes to leadership and act as a single point of contact between Cerner and Kern County Hospital Authority.
  • Conducts research to keep abreast of latest developments in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Enters and retrieves a variety of data and information from databases.
  • Prepares, processes, and maintains a variety of records and reports.
  • Provides additional and impromptu Cerner on the job training to end users as needed
  • Attends Governance meetings to ensure accurate regulatory requirement information and updates are communicated.
  • Participates in Cerner builds as needed
  • Works in Simulation Lab as assigned or when necessary

Other Functions:

  • Performs other related duties or projects as required.

Employment Standards:

Minimum two (2) years of undergraduate education with a Pre-Med course of study

Additional Requirements:

 Some positions may require possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

 Knowledge of:

Basic socioeconomic principles; individual and group behavior principles; community resources; public relations principles; interviewing techniques; applicable local, state, and federal guidelines, regulations, laws, and programs; case management principles;

Skill in:

Using a computer and related software applications; Clear communication skills and ability to listen; Excellent analytical and technical skills; proven skills with workflows; reading, comprehending, and explaining regulations and procedures; resolving conflict; speaking in public; recording client information; maintaining client files; and, communicating both orally and in writing sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

If position responsibilities require driving a personal vehicle, then possession of a current valid California Driver’s License and adherence to the Kern County Hospital Authority Vehicle Use and Driving Standard Policy (ENG-EC-119) is required.

If position responsibilities require driving a vehicle owned, leased or rented by Kern Medical, then possession of a current valid California Driver’s license, a signed authorization for Release of Drivers Record Information and adherence to the Kern County Hospital Authority Vehicle Use and Driving Standard Policy (ENG-EC-119) is required.
