Promotive is hiring an experienced A Level Fleet Technician / Medium-Duty Truck Technician in Auburn Hills, MI for a long-standing independent repair shop with steady fleet accounts, modern equipment, and no weekend hours.
This is a strong opportunity for a diagnostic-minded technician who knows their way around F59 chassis, E350 gas units, Sprinter vans, Transit vans, and medium-duty fleet vehicles. Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair fleet vehicles, medium-duty trucks, commercial vans, and gas-powered fleet units.
- Work on F59 chassis, E350 gas units, Sprinter vans, Transit vans, and similar commercial vehicles.
- Perform advanced diagnostics on drivability, electrical systems, brakes, steering, suspension, and general mechanical concerns.
- Use Autel, OTC, Snap-on, TOPDON, DRB, factory tools, and other diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle issues accurately.
- Complete state inspections and ensure repairs meet safety and compliance standards.
- Document inspections, repair notes, and recommendations using Tekmetric and digital vehicle inspection tools.
- Communicate clearly with service advisors and team members on parts needs, repair timelines, and vehicle status.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Fleet Technician, Medium-Duty Truck Technician, or Automotive Technician with fleet experience.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with commercial vans, fleet vehicles, medium-duty trucks, or domestic platforms preferred.
- Michigan state certifications required.
- ASE certifications are a plus.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Comfortable working independently while contributing to a team-first shop environment.
Compensation & Benefits
- $40-$50/hr flat rate, based on experience and certifications.
