Overview:
Client is currently recruiting for a Public Safety Trainer in New York, NY, focused on public safety training. This role supports customers in law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other public safety agencies. The ideal candidate should combine instructional experience, technical background, and adaptability to tailor training for different skill levels in public safety communications.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a professional trainer or facilitator in a public safety, emergency communications, law enforcement, fire service, or related government environment
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver technical system or software training to non-technical audiences
  • Strong platform skills and classroom presence; experience managing groups of 10–15 adult learners
  • Familiarity with 9-1-1 operations, emergency dispatch workflows, or public safety communications
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evening, overnight, or weekend sessions to accommodate shift workers
  • NYC residency or ability to commute to NYC on-site locations required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a 9-1-1 dispatcher, call taker, communications supervisor, or public safety trainer
  • APCO or NENA certifications (e.g., PST1, CTO, RPL, ENP) strongly preferred
  • Experience training staff on a new or upgraded call handling platform
  • Experience supporting large-scale technology rollouts in a government or municipal setting
