Job Title: 8th Grade Teacher
Position Summary
The 8th Grade Teacher is responsible for providing rigorous, standards-based instruction to prepare students for a successful transition to high school. This role focuses on supporting students' academic growth, critical thinking skills, and social-emotional development while maintaining a structured and engaging classroom environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction in assigned subject area(s) (e.g., Math, English Language Arts, Science, or Social Studies).
Prepare students for high school readiness through challenging coursework and skill development.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs, 504 plans, and English Learners.
Use data and assessments to monitor student progress and guide instructional decisions.
Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns.
Collaborate with grade-level teams, counselors, and support staff to address student needs.
Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school improvement initiatives.
Implement district curriculum, policies, and procedures with fidelity.
Support school activities, including events that promote student engagement and transition to high school.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (Master's degree preferred).
Valid Indiana teaching license appropriate for middle school (grades 5-9 or subject-specific licensure).
Strong knowledge of content area and adolescent development.
Effective classroom management and organizational skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior middle school teaching experience, particularly at the 8th grade level.
Experience preparing students for high school readiness and state assessments.
Familiarity with instructional technology and data systems.
Working Conditions
